Words Their Way

We started Words Their Way this morning.

Students began by learning about the different patterns in their words. We wrote the headings on the top of our page and then sorted the words into their appropriate headings based on different sounds or consonant-vowel patterns.

If you are at home, you can sort the words by writing them on a sheet of paper and sorting them into the right categories. You will need me to check and ensure they are in the right spot before you highlight the word patterns so please skip this step.

You can work on writing each of your words into a sentence. If you do not know what a word means, please look it up.

  • For example if your word is "sorry" you could write a sentence that said: I am sorry that I ate all your pizza!
  • If your word is "magic" you could write a sentence that said: I went to the magic show last night.
Please check the words their way tab for more instructions and also your word list. I have sent home a message that includes each students' word list. You will not need anything printed for this, but just access to a computer or tablet to see the words and the instructions.
