Words Their Way Instructions
Words Their Way
Every time you get a new set of words, this is what you need to do:
- 1. GET your words and do your WRITE & SORT!
- Do not glue them in!
- Get them checked by Mrs. Jessie
- Highlight the word patterns (if there is a pattern – ask if you aren’t sure):
- Example: CVVC Boat or –eg patterns: beg, leg
- 2. Write your words in complete sentences. If you do not know what the words mean – look in the dictionary!
- 3. Put your words in ALPHABETIC ORDER – Ant, Antelope, Artist, Balloon, Beluga, Cotton
- 4. Rainbow Write: Ant, Antelope - Write your words using colors - Remember a rainbow goes Red - Orange - Yellow - Green - Blue - Indigo
- 5. Fancy Words: Ant, Antelope, Artist, Balloon - write your words in fancy handwriting, bubble letters, boxes, etc.
- 6. Word Search: Go into your file and find the word search. Cut it out and glue into your Daily 5 book when you are done. (Mrs. Jessie will post if we end up missing more school).
- 7. NOW YOU CAN CUT OUT YOUR WORDS!
- 8. Speed Sort – Use the iPad to race yourself, 3 times!
- 9. Blind Sort/Partner Sort – Have somebody say the words to you, and you point to the right category.
