Our First Division Master!

And my first time trying Stop-Animation!

Congratulations Jayvier!! He has made it all the way through addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division! No more XtraMath for you Jayvier! You beat XtraMath!

I wonder who will beat XtraMath next?

Tuesday, May 12 Lessons

I’ve taken a look at what students accomplished Monday and adjusted to allow you to catch up today (Tuesday) as many of you were not able to complete the tasks provided.

Please remember: I am able to track who is logging into Epic! and what books they are reading. If your assigned tasks ask you to read books on Epic! and you don't log in, I can see that! If your parents want to know, I can also send them a list of what you are reading and not reading!

A big shout out to Tiffany, Rachel, Sophia, Ming Kee, Maranelo, Jayden, and Jayvier - I see you working hard on Epic!

We will have a quick Google Meet at 10am to check in with only one round of Gimkit this morning because it seems a lot of you are behind in your work! Instructions are on Google classroom!

LANGUAGE (1-1.5 hours):

I have the following students done their reading assessment on Raz Kids: Sophia, Ming Kee, Rachel, and Rae-E! I know Jayvier was having technical difficulties. If you log onto Raz Kids and the assessment in the bottom left isn't working, please send me a Google Hangout message!
  1. Week 10 of Reading Comprehension posted on Google Classroom - Do Day 2! - I posted extra help on Monday for Setting and Characters if you need to review
  2. Read for at least 20 minutes via Raz Kids, Epic, or your choice of book.
  3. New Words Their Way posted last Monday. Tuesday’s task has you writing in rainbow and/or fancy words. This video supports them utilizing the Words Their Way Slides I’ve provided on Google Classroom: https://youtu.be/kvFSFLvM4AM
  4. Digital Citizenship: In both 4A and 4B this week, students will be exploring what is acceptable, responsible communication online and what entails unacceptable, irresponsible communication online
    1. We will continue exploring our digital footprint, protecting our passwords and private information, and cyberbullying.
    2. I only have 7 students that finished Monday’s task, if you did not finish everything, please revisit yesterday's blog post for your slides and instructions! Or Click here.
    3. Today’s lesson is centred around not giving out personal information, falling for marketing ploys, spam messages, and not so friendly people online.
      1. Watch the first video. It will ask you to pause and check out the second video!
    • 2. Play this game: Click here for game
    • 3. Go to Google Classroom under the Digital Citizenship tab for your work to wrap up this lesson.
    • 4. Read another book from the Digital Classroom Library (Posted under science this time)

MATH (1 hr - Suggested breakdown: 40 minutes Math Booklet & Slides - 20 minutes Prodigy or Study Ladder):

We have finished our Addition and Subtraction unit - please ensure you have wrapped up the booklet provided on Google Classroom and finished the Quizizz assessment! This will allow me to get some data for the upcoming report cards.

We are starting on Time this week! Did you make yourself a clock yet? If not, please make one! Here are the instructions again:

If you did make one, send me a picture of it! I would love to add you to our digital classroom next week!
Remember: The Time booklet is posted on Google Classroom and you do not need to finish it all today. You can complete it all by next Monday, May 18th! Check out the Math slides on Monday's post or by clicking here.
Practice 20 minutes daily on Prodigy or Study Ladder Math! And maybe one round on XtraMath if you are getting close to passing. Aroush is almost done division!
SCIENCE (1 hr: Mostly catch-up):
We are learning about Food Webs, Food Chains, and Predators and Prey this week.
  1. Hopefully, you watched the Bill Nye video yesterday and read one of the books. If not, please do that now by clicking on the computer screen in the slides below and on any of the books about Food Webs, Food Chains, Predators and Prey (there is an arrow on the slides to the books).
  2. If you are finished, you can choose another book from the selection on the picture below to get yourself ready for tomorrow's task.

FLIPGRID (15 mins - Online Task - Catch-up):

The shared Grade 4 Flipgrid can be accessed by Clicking here. Remember: Log in with your school-issued email.

Last week there was a “Would You Rather?” question provided, and I am so glad to see a lot of my students completed a Flipgrid and responded to the other students both in our class and 4B!

The new question is posted - only one student answered so far! Thank you Norocos for sharing!
