LANGUAGE (1-1.5 hours):

Heya! Did you do your reading assessment on Raz Kids yet? No? Please get that done in the next week. If you are having technical difficulties like Jayvier, please send me a message by email or Google Hangouts!

If you have a one-picture password on Raz Kids - Please change it! Some of you are being hacked!

To help you with today's reading comprehension concept "Theme"

1. Week 10 of Reading Comprehension posted on the blog - complete Day 3 today - I did not assess Day 2 if you handed it in, I will catch up today. I was too busy making my Stop-Animation video for Jayvier (see below).
2. Read for at least 20 minutes via Raz Kids, Epic, or your choice of book
3. New Words Their Way posted last Monday. Wednesday’s task is Word Searches!  Your word search is on Google Classroom.
4. Digital Citizenship: In both 4A and 4B this week, students will be exploring what is acceptable, responsible communication online and what entails unacceptable, irresponsible communication online. 
1. We will continue exploring our digital footprint, protecting our passwords and private information, and cyberbullying. 
2. Many students are behind on the Monday & Tuesday tasks. Please get caught up, it will help for today’s lesson and have you prepared for Thursday and Friday’s lessons.
3. Today they are going to fill in a table tracking their time online for Wednesday! We are going to use it in a Math lesson tomorrow so it is very important you complete this today to be ready for your Math lesson Thursday that goes with elapsed time. Video recorded lesson and table is posted on Google Classroom under digital citizenship. Or the video is posted above!
4. You should pick another book from the ones provided on Epic! - I can see who is reading them and following directions! Remember to check the digital classroom posted above for the links!

MATH (1 hr):

We have finished our Addition and Subtraction unit - please ensure you have wrapped up the booklet provided on Google Classroom and finished the Quizizz assessment! This will allow me to get some data for the upcoming report cards.

We are starting on Time this week. - Did you make your paper plate clock? If not thats okay, click the clock in the digital classroom above.

I have posted the next booklet for you on Google Classroom as well as a slideshow to help you progress through the various tasks. This can be completed over the next week at your own pace. The slideshow includes various video recordings, lessons, and games to assist you with your understanding. Don't watch and go through the slides all at one time! Chunk it down!

Practice 20 minutes daily on Prodigy, XtraMath, or Study Ladder Math - Jayvier made it all the way through XtraMath, who is going to be next?

Tuesday, May 12 Lessons

I’ve taken a look at what students accomplished Monday and adjusted to allow you to catch up today (Tuesday) as many of you were not able to complete the tasks provided.

Please remember: I am able to track who is logging into Epic! and what books they are reading. If your assigned tasks ask you to read books on Epic! and you don't log in, I can see that! If your parents want to know, I can also send them a list of what you are reading and not reading!

A big shout out to Tiffany, Rachel, Sophia, Ming Kee, Maranelo, Jayden, and Jayvier - I see you working hard on Epic!

We will have a quick Google Meet at 10am to check in with only one round of Gimkit this morning because it seems a lot of you are behind in your work! Instructions are on Google classroom!

SCIENCE (1 hr: Mostly catch-up): 

We are learning about Food Webs, Food Chains, and Predators and Prey this week. 

1. Hopefully, you watched the Bill Nye video yesterday and read one of the books. If not, please do that now by clicking on the computer screen in the slides below and on any of the books about Food Webs, Food Chains, Predators and Prey (there is an arrow on the slides to the books).
2. If you are finished, you can choose another book from the selection on the picture below to get yourself ready for tomorrow's task.

We are starting on Time this week. So, if you didn't make yourself a Pie Plate Clock yet, please look at Wednesday's post from last week to get yourself prepped and ready!

I had provided the following two books for students to read to help them with this unit:

Measuring Time with a Clock - This one gets more into some of the concepts that are covered in grade 4 and is a nice introduction to what learning we will be doing - Click here

As many students have not logged into Epic, you are already missing this base instruction. Please ensure you have read the two books posted up above before you continue on!

Your new Math Booklet is posted on Google Classroom This can be completed over the next week at their own pace. Here is the accompanying Math Slideshow to go with this weeks math lessons!

Please refer to the videos as necessary, you should not watch them all in one go. Please watch a section such as the five-minute intervals (it's highlighted on the slides with titles) and complete the work in your math booklet that has to do with those slides. Go back to slides and watch the next section, then return to your booklet.

Practice 20 minutes daily on Prodigy or Study Ladder Math - Both have math concepts that are targeting concepts covered this week and will help reinforce your understanding.

To Check Google Classroom for what you need to finish: 

1. Go to Google Classroom.

2. Click on the "Classwork" tab

3. Click on the "show your work" which is circled in pink.

Also, check the blog posts below to ensure you've completed your tasks such as: Flipgrid, Prodigy, Words Their Way, Reading Comprehension, Science Booklet about carnivores, herbivores, omnivores, etc. Your Addition/Subtraction Math Booklets, and your Social Studies Global stories Flipgrid.

Also, don't forget to make a paper plate clock! Check Wednesday's post if you have no idea what I am talking about!

I've noticed that a lot of you haven't been logging into Epic to read the books I have provided you to assist you with your lessons. Epic has created a new tool for teachers... it allows to see me who has been reading each day! I can see that Aroush, Gianna, Jayden, Jayvier, Maranelo, Ming Kee, Norocos, Rachel, Sophia, and Tiffany all read on Epic! and must have followed my directions and done their class assignments this week!

I'm also going to ask you to do a reading assessment on Raz Kids over the next week. Please log onto your Raz Kids and look for the assessment icon that looks like this:

Click on the assessment, then click on the book or passage provided for you: 

You will then be asked if you have enough time (10-15 minutes) and you will have to record yourself reading and answer a few questions! This is for me to see how your reading is going and if I should adjust your level. 

Remember: At very least you should be reading 20 minutes every day! This will make sure your reading gets better!
